My
Story

Hi! My name is Izzy Ruiz and I am about to graduate from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Human Biology. I originally came to Stanford intending to be pre-med but I quickly became incredibly burnt out and unmotivated. Stanford was the first to challenge the poor study habits I had developed in high school and my lack of creative outlets. That all changed when I took my first art class, Anatomy for Artists, and I realized the intersection of art and biology was the perfect way to stay creative while pursuing my passions for biology and rekindling my love of learning.

My current goal is to apply to Medical Illustration Masters programs (wish me luck!) and somehow make my way into patient education. I think art and design is the optimal avenue through which biology, science, and health can be made more accessible and I hope to be a part of that change.

When I'm not designing, you can find me cooking or baking, napping with my cat, exploring Washington DC, or trying to beat my partner in chess! I'm a big believer in allowing your inner child to shine, so I never stop being curious, exploring, and willing to learn!
