Aspiring Medical Illustrator -> Sketches Graphite Acrylic Published Study

The Tempest was my first graphic design role for the Stanford Shakespeare Company. The Tempest was also our first production after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. We decided a radio play with original music would be a creative solution to the awkwardness of Zoom theatre.
Project:
The Tempest
Role: Graphic Designer for the Stanford Shakespeare Company
Skills: Procreate and Canva
Description: I spent 3 months from November to January of 2020-2021 graphic designing for the Stanford Shakespeare Company's first show in the Covid-19 pandemic. I was tasked with creating an album cover/ Instagram advert, banners for Eventbrite and Facebook events, a program, an animated trailer, and a Snapchat filter.

The process
I met with Director Ryan Tan and Producer Arielle DeVito in November of 2020 to discuss the possibility of me graphic designing for the Company's radio play. I'm an actor in the Company and have never graphic designed for a show before. I readily accepted this challenge and knew it was the perfect opportunity to finally learn how to use Procreate. There was definitely a steep learning curve but I was able to overcome it and create my first serious piece of digital art!

Making My first animation
Ryan and Arielle also asked for an animated trailer. I had never made an animation before, unless you count my silly Nintendo DS Flipnotes. I initially tried animating on Procreate and while I was able to create a simple gif (Slide 2), I wanted more creative control to animate along to the trailer audio. I created the final version of the trailer on the app FlipaClip. Overall, I think this was a great first animation and I'd love to create more in the future.
making My first Snapchat filter
I decided to challenge myself further by attempting to make a Snapchat filter our Company members could use to promote the show on social media. I started with making a flat image of a skull to make it easier to format to the lines of the face. I then transferred the image into Snapchat's Lens Studio and with the help of several youtube tutorials, I was able to create my first
Snapchat filter!
